Veterinary Services Section

Livestock Development section is charged with the responsibility to streamline the livestock production and extension in the Department.

Functions of the Section

  • Conserve, manage and develop fishery resources and waters in a sustainable manner.
  • manage, develop and protect aquaculture, vegetation and fish habitats.
  • Regulate the conduct of fishing operations including aquaculture and operations ancillary thereto.
  • Ensure the fair access to fisheries resources for commercial recreational and indigenous use.

  • Provision of veterinary extension services in order to enhance animal health.
  • Implementation of programmes to prevent, detect, control or eradicate animal diseases in order to improve animal productivity and protect human health.
  • Identification and tracing animals and animal products in order to regulate animal movements and prevent the spread of animal diseases.
