Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited has today paid a courtesy visit to Chembe Local Authority.
The Company is in a pursuit to developing a masterplan which is a 50-year plan which will set a vision for what Chembe district will be in 50 years.
As Chembe is developing, Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited has hope that the community in Chembe will have access to treated piped water and flushable toilets at village level.
Speaking During the meeting, Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Board Chairperson, Mr. Bristol Ntebeka said securing Land, building office spaces, a sewage system and distribution centers will be solely meant for Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company.
The Company is also interested in ensuring that the community to have access to treated piped water from Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company and that all shallow wells in the district be buried in due time.
Chembe Local Authority has set up its own Water Reticulation System which is currently servicing 620 household connections and has so far been working on expanding the system.
Luapula Water Supply Managing Director, Mr. Mukela Simbuwa said with the Sanitation Company coming on board, there is need to come up with ways of mobilizing revenues.
However, team is to be made at Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company to sit with the Local Authority team to strategize on how water issues would be tackled.
